Where is the New Bullards Bar Reservoir? ›

New Bullards Bar Reservoir, which is located about 45 minutes outside the City of Marysville on Marysville Road, has 55 miles of shoreline with more than 20 miles of trails, most of which are located in the Plumas and Tahoe national forests.

The dam is a variable radius concrete arch design and has a height of 645 feet (195 m). It is in the top 40 dams in the world for height and in the top 50 for reservoir size. New Bullards Bar Dam was constructed by the Yuba County Water Agency.

Camping outside developed campgrounds is prohib- ited except when Bullards Bar Reservoir draw down has reached 15 feet, then shoreline camping is al- lowed by permit only. The campgrounds at Bullards Bar Recreation Area are open from April 15 to October 15, with the main sea- son from Memorial Day through Labor Day.

The New Bullards Bar Reservoir offers year-round fishing for a majority of species, including bass, kokanee salmon, trout, bluegill, crappie, and catfish, and guide services will accompany you onto one of the many rivers in the area in search of sturgeon, shad, and multiple types of salmon and trout.

Boaters will find numerous opportunities for swimming in various locations around the reservoir. Supplies are available at the marina as well as the nearby communities of Camptonville, North San Juan, and Dobbins. Ample camping facilities are available for family and group camping and picnicking.

The 969,600 acre-foot (1.1960×10⁹ m³) reservoir is formed by New Bullards Bar Dam on the North Yuba River, a tributary of the Yuba River. It also receives a portion of the Middle Fork's flow that is diverted to the reservoir via tunnels.

New Bullards Bar dam was constructed by the Yuba County Water Agency. The agency was created through an act of the state legislature in 1959 specifically to construct a flood control reservoir in response to the flood of 1955. The bulk of the financing for the dam came from the issuance of revenue bonds.

Englebright Lake is nestled in the scenic Sierra foothills on Highway 20 between the cities of Marysville and Grass Valley. Constructed for the containment of hydraulic gold mining debris, Englebright Dam is a concrete arch structure which spans 1,142 feet across and is 260 feet high.

Camping permits are required and are available only at the Emerald Cove Resort and Marina (530) 692-3200. They may be reserved in advance of arrival. The camping permit authorizes campfires only in developed boat access campgrounds, or on the shoreline after draw down has reached 15 feet.

Perhaps the strangest of those choices is soap. Yes, Ivory bar soap will catch a catfish. Catfish love the smell of lye and will go after it just as well as any other stink bait. Anglers take the bar and cut it into small squares and cast it into a current so the smell will disperse and attract catfish.

Watts Bar Reservoir is a mainstem impoundment on the Tennessee River that was built in 1942 with the completion of Watts Bar Dam at TN River mile 530 in both Rhea and Meigs counties. Watts Bar has a surface area of 39,600 acres and 722 miles of shoreline.

The reservoir is located alongside California State Route 39, approximately 5 miles (8.0 km) north of the city of Azusa. Morris Reservoir is just downstream from the San Gabriel Dam. The mean water elevation is about 1,100 feet (340 m), when the reservoir is at capacity.
