What Is Netherite and What Does It Do in Minecraft

Netherite is one of the rarest materials in-game. They're extremely useful to have because they're meant to upgrade all diamonds Tools, Weapons, and Armor. When Netherite is attached to any of them the stats will significantly increase. Netherite is practically helpful in PvP situations or when you're preparing to fight a Boss Mob

How to Obtain Netherite

Obtaining Netheretie is a bit of a process but well worth it. To get Netherite you'll need to mine Ancient Debris first, which can only be found in the Nether.

When you enter the Nether you'll need to mine until you reach Y level 8-15. Most Ancient Debris will spawn at Y level 15.

Once you get at the Y level, begin mining as you would normally.

A good tip to speed up the process is to use a bed. But be careful because when beds are used in the Nether they'll blow up immediately. So you'll want to get as far away from the bed as you can before sleeping in it and build a mini base around you. So that way, you minimize the damage as much as you can.

But if you don't want to risk dying, use a pickaxe to mine. As soon as you stumble across Ancient Debris, you'll need a Diamond Pickaxe to mine it. If you use any other pickaxe, you will destroy the block.

Once you have the Ancient Debris, you'll need to smelt it in a Furnace or Blast Furnace so it can turn into Netherite Scraps.

Now that you have Netherite Scraps, you'll need to take them to a crafting table to make Netherite Ingots. Below you'll see a recipe for Netherite Ingot, alongside a picture of how it needs to be placed.

How to Use Netherite

Once you have Netherite Ingot, you're ready to use it. You'll need to take it to an Smithing Table and place the Netherite Ingot in the middle slot.

Below is a list of the items you can use Netherite Ingot on.

  • Diamond Helmet
  • Diamond Chestplate
  • Diamond Leggings
  • Diamond Boots
  • Diamond Sword
  • Diamond Pickaxe
  • Diamond Axe
  • Diamond Shovel
  • Diamond Hoe

Place any of these items on the left side of the Smithing Table slot, and they'll turn into a Netherite version of it. This is the only way to obtain Netherite gear in-game. It's a process, but it's worth it.
