Fool Me Once
As far as British thrillers go, Fool Me Once has a pretty basic premise. Ex-soldier Maya (Michelle Keegan) is navigating grief and a new reality after her husband (Richard Armitage) is murdered—only to see him turn up on a hidden nanny cam in her house, leading her into a dangerous, long-building conspiracy. But, basic or not, you know what they say about things that work: if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. January 1
The Brothers Sun
Picture this: You and your mom—who is the formidable Michelle Yeoh—live in L.A. as you study to become a doctor while harbouring not-so-secret dreams of chasing a more creative, unstable path. Suddenly, a mysterious man shows up at your door with some major bombshells. Turns out, he’s your older brother, your family runs a prominent Taipei triad, your father was almost murdered and now the assassins are after the rest of your family. Welcome to The Brothers Sun. Good Grief
What does life after Schitt’s Creek look like for Canadian Dan Levy? Adding movies to his resume. Good Grief is Levy’s feature-length directorial debut, which he also penned the screenplay for and stars in. The drama follows Marc (Levy), a recently widowed man who has to readjust to life without his husband (Luke Evans). To get away from everything, Marc takes his two best friends (Ruth Negga and Himesh Patel) on a trip to Paris, where they’re forced to face the hard truths they’ve all been pretending don’t exist. Gyeongseong Creature (Part 2)
Whether you’ve been holding off for the entire season of Gyeongseong Creature to drop or watched the first part of the supernatural period drama over the holidays only to be met with a cliffhanger, the wait for the rest of this Korean series is over. Set in 1945, while Korea is under oppressive colonial rule, expect part two to quickly pick up where things left off (spoilers!): sleuth Yoon Chae-ok (Han So-hee) has helped a group of Koreans escape from a cruel Japanese prison, while entrepreneur Jang Tae-sang (Park Seo-joon) got left behind. Oh, and there’s a giant, uncontrollable, deadly man-made monster running around. January 5
Break Point (Season 2)
I’m still waiting for Break Point to do to professional tennis what Drive to Survive did to Formula One racing—i.e. help make it even more popular among sports fans while more accessible to newcomers. Season two of the sports docuseries arrives at a perfect time, and will chronicle the 2023 tour as a younger generation of athletes (hi, Coco Gauff and Carlos Alcaraz) begin to rise among the ranks. You’ll see familiar faces from season one, such as Aryna Sabalenka, Frances Tiafoe and Maria Sakkari, while pros like Daniil Medvedev and Jessica Pegula will also participate in the doc for the first time. Lift
It’s one thing for a ragtag heist crew to pull off a ploy in which they grab $500 million in gold. In action-comedy Lift, it’s an entirely new thing when the group has to steal and make away with their haul from a passenger plane while they’re 40,000 feet in the air. Kevin Hart, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Vincent D’Onofrio, Úrsula Corberó, Billy Magnussen, Jacob Batalon and Sam Worthington star. January 12
Love Is Blind: Sweden
Reality dating phenomenon Love Is Blind is getting another international version, Love Is Blind: Sweden. Hosted by Swedish TV presenter Jessica Almenäs, the formula for the spinoff is what fans have come to know and love, with 32 singles coming together to seek love—and a marriage proposal—without ever actually looking at their fellow contestants. The Kitchen
After winning an Oscar as an actor, Daniel Kaluuya is stepping behind the camera with fellow British filmmaker Kibwe Tavares for their feature-length directorial debut, The Kitchen. The sci-fi/drama is set in the future in a dystopian London in which all social housing has been erased, worsening the class and wealth gap in the city. Izi (Kane Robinson, a.k.a. the rapper Kano) is close to making it out of one of the last housing estates, but then he meets a young boy named Benji (Jedaiah Bannerman) and the pair search for their place in their community fighting for their home. Griselda
You may know her best as Modern Family’s warm and hilarious Gloria, but Sofía Vergara is ready to show off a whole new side of her talents in Griselda. The crime drama is inspired by the real-life story of Griselda Blanco, a woman known as “the Godmother” who created one of the most profitable cartels ever. The series is set in the ’70s and ’80s in Miami and tracks Griselda as she builds her “business” while navigating her complicated family life. January 25
