Instructions

Install Instructions For Blaze King Wood Stove Convection Fan (Spider Mount Axial Fan): 150-0175-C

Installation Instructions:

1.) Unplug the unit's power cord.

2.) Locate the blower motor. Free-Standing Stoves: It may be necessary to remove the rear and side panels to gain access to this area. Inserts: Most often the unit needs to be pulled out of the firebox in order to access this location.

3.) Follow the power wires coming off of the existing motor & disconnect them at the first connection (Pay attention to the orientation of the wires and connection location. Often the power wire leads will come from the motor. Other times, there will be two lead wires that run from the unit and connect to tabs on the motor).

4.) Locate the fasteners attaching the fan housing to the unit and remove them.

5.) Position the new blower in place and reattach using the previously removed fasteners.

6.) Reconnect the wires (Pay attention to the wire location).

7.) Free-Standing Stoves: Reinstall any previously removed panels. Inserts: Reposition the insert back into the firebox cavity.

8.) Plug in the unit's power cord.

Troubleshooting

Reduced Air Flow-If you feel like your fan is not moving as much air as it did in the past start off by cleaning the fan and surrounding areas. Often times pet hair and dust are drawn into the fan and collect on the blades. This build-up can slow down the rotation of the blower. Sometimes brushing the dust off with a light bristle paint brush and vacuuming out the area will resolve this problem.

Blower Not Rotating-The first step to take is to manually check and see if the fan spins freely. The fan should spin freely in both directions with very little resistance. If the fan feels stuck or you feel resistance it usually indicates that the fan blade is not centered between the grommets. This can also happen if debris is lodged in the fan.

If you are still experiencing issues after trying these steps your blower may need to be replaced.

What temperature should a wood stove fan run at? ›

The fan starts to work when the temperature is above 122℉. The recommended temperature is between 158℉-644℉.

How does a convection wood stove fan work? ›

A log burner fan is driven by the heat produced when the stove is on and the thermoelectric energy conducted by the Peltier module. This means they are self-powered devices and therefore don't require batteries or an electric mains source to function. This helps you preserve energy and save money simultaneously.

How long do Blaze King stoves last? ›

The King can burn for 40+ hours on low or produce a tremendous amount of heat for 12 to 16 hours, depending on your installation and wood type. The distance from the door opening to the bottom of the firebox is 9". Our design minimizes any chance of coals rolling forward and out of the firebox when the door is opened.

Is it cheaper to run a wood burning stove? ›

A wood burner could reduce your heating bills by up to 10%, according to the Energy Saving Trust. Under the current price cap, a woodburning stove costs around 13% less than gas central heating, and one-third of the price of electric heating. Efficient – log burners have around 75-90% efficiency.

How many blades are best on a wood stove fan? ›

Fans with more blades are known to be a little quieter than those with fewer blades and more blades usually means the fan has better balance. The more blades a wood stove fan has the better it will circulate air so if you have a large living space you might want to buy a 4 or more-bladed fan.

Can a stove fan get too hot? ›

Can stove fans overheat? Yes, if stove fans get too hot, this can damage the motor and lower efficiency or break the fan altogether. To prevent this happening, most fans have additional smaller fans called cooling fans at the back of the product, which regulates the temperature of the main fan.

What is the most efficient temp for a wood stove? ›

One of the keys to high-efficiency combustion is keeping the combustion zone hot, at least 600°C (1,100°F). If it is colder than that, the wood will tend to "smolder" (hot enough for combustible gases to escape from the wood, but not hot enough for those gases to burn).

Can you use a stove fan with an open fire? ›

Yes, you can add a fan/blower to most gas and wood fireplaces, inserts, and stoves. You will need to find a fireplace rated fan that will fit your fireplace and follow all instructions for installation in the unit's manual.

Where is the best place to put a fan on a log burner? ›

The Golden Rule: Keep Your Fan at the Back

The best place to position a stove fan is at the back of the stove. This is where the fan will most efficiently capture the heat produced from the wood-burning stove and push it forward and make your room feel warmer.

Should you use a fan with a wood stove? ›

If you want to increase the efficiency of your stove as well as have more comfortable heat throughout your home, avoiding hot and cold spots, then a stove fan is a must. It's a fantastic innovation and a great wood burning idea that can really improve the comfort of your home.

Why not put stove fan in front of flue? ›

Just make sure you leave enough room between the fan and the wall to allow the cooler air to enter – 15cm should do it. One thing to remember – don't place your stove fan in front of the stove's flue pipe: it's the hottest part of the stove.

Are two stove fans better than one? ›

Here are some considerations to keep in mind when determining if two stove fans are better than one: Enhanced air circulation: Two stove fans positioned strategically can work together to distribute warm air more effectively across a larger area.

What is the most efficient wood burning stove? ›
